The election thumping Republicans got Tuesday at the hands of Latino voters was severe. To formulate a fix for what went wrong, the party will need help from influential Republicans like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Florida officials said the president had 50 percent of the vote to Romney's 49.1 percent. His win of the state's 29 electoral votes gives Obama a total of 332 electoral votes to Mitt Romney's 206.

When the 113th Congress convenes in January, New Hampshire will have the first-in-the-nation all-female congressional delegation (as well as a female governor). And each of these women started her political career while raising young kids. That got NPR intern Elizabeth Brown thinking about her childhood in the Granite State.

The state has a history of electing women. This year's "first" follows a pattern, which the elected female politicians say speaks to New Hampshire's "ability to make decisions regardless of gender."

The words from President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner on Friday over taxes and the fiscal cliff could be properly viewed as the two men staking out opening positions in coming negotiations. They also could be seen as addressing the two very different constituencies the men must answer to.

Once all the votes are counted, President Obama is expected to eke out a narrow victory in the battleground state of Florida. But many are asking why voters had to stand in long lines for hours — on Election Day and in early voting — and also why the vote counting is taking so long.
