At times, the station receives correspondence and e-mail messages that suggest members' perceptions of the relationship between WAMU (your local station), National Public Radio (the program provider/distributor), and with you (a contributing listener) -- may be somewhat nebulous. We hope that the following information helps you understand the differences, and the interdependence, of the three entities.
The WAMU 88.5 MemberCard is a benefit exclusive to public broadcasting stations that offers contributing members 2-for-1 entrees at more than 250 area restaurants, and more than 8,600 restaurants across the country.
If you've received a mail request from us recently, please make out your check or include your credit card information and return it. All contributions by mail postmarked on or before December 31 are eligible for tax deduction.
There are new rules regarding the treatment of cash donations for deduction purposes. Under the Pension Protection Act of August 2006 no tax deduction will be allowed for any contribution of cash, check or monetary gift unless the donor can provide a bank record or a written communication from the charity.
