Membership Campaign Volunteer Program

Volunteers serve in various capacities during WAMU 88.5’s membership 
campaigns, including answering calls from supporters who want to make

Thank you for your interest in joining our membership campaign volunteer program. Our fall membership campaign will take place from Oct. 18-Oct. 25, 2014. Please follow the instructions that are provided in the "How To Apply" section of this page if you would like to register to volunteer for our fall membership campaign.

The WAMU 88.5 membership campaign brings you together with our producers, hosts, engineers, and support staff, as well as other fans of public radio in the Washington metropolitan area. Whether it's answering phones, assisting with hospitality, or even supervising a shift, there's guaranteed to be great food and a great time.

Position Descriptions

Hospitality Assistant: Organize food display and welcoming caterers. Assist with keeping dining area presentable during the membership campaign.

Phone Operator: Receive calls and record supporter contributions.

Phone Room Manager*: Assist with orientation of and provide leadership to volunteers in the phone room during the campaign.

Assistant Phone Room Manager*: Assist with orientation of and provide leadership to volunteers in the phone room during the campaign.

*Only available for individuals who have volunteered at WAMU 88.5 previously and have completed the phone room manager training.

COMMITMENT
The membership campaign volunteer program is our most flexible and largest volunteer program. Volunteers are not required to volunteer for each membership campaign because of the large number of volunteers that are in the program.

Most membership campaign shifts last between three to four hours.

TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS
The first half-hour of each membership campaign shift is dedicated to orientation and training.

AGE REQUIREMENT
All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

ASSIGNMENT POLICY
Volunteers select the position that they would like to work.

HOW TO APPLY
Since the Fall 2009 membership campaign, the WAMU 88.5 volunteer program has been using the online scheduling program Shiftboard for campaign volunteer registration and sign-up.

After you’ve logged in, visit the Calendar page to pick the shifts that you would like to volunteer for. Forgot your password? Click here to have a new password e-mailed to you.

Need to Register: If you have not registered, visit https://www.shiftboard.com/wamu/register.html to register today. After your registration has been approved, you will be e-mailed a welcome letter which will include your username, password, and instructions on how to use Shiftboard.
