Volunteers in this program work in various departments around the station during the work week. Some volunteers serve as front desk receptionist, office assistants, support program producers, mail premiums, do research, or possibly something we haven't thought of yet.

COMMITMENT
The WAMU 88.5 daytime station support program requires that all volunteers in this program commit to at least six months of service to WAMU 88.5 and serve at least two four-hour shifts per month. Some positions in this program may require a weekly commitment.

TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS
Prospective volunteers are required to attend a basic training and orientation.

In the basic training and orientation session, prospective volunteers will learn about the history and mission of WAMU 88.5 and its volunteer program. In addition, prospective volunteers will learn about the policies and procedures of WAMU 88.5 and the volunteer program, their volunteer duties, and receive training in listener service, emergency, security and evacuation procedures.

Once a volunteer has successfully completed the basic training session, they will begin ongoing training in their volunteer assignment. Ongoing training is provided by the volunteer’s supervisor and includes position-specific training.

AGE REQUIREMENT
All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

ASSIGNMENT POLICY
Volunteers are selected and assigned by way of an interview process.

Once we receive your completed application, the volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview.
