While the vast majority of e-books still consist of basic text delivered to a device, the next generation of digital books feature a range of interactivity and multimedia content. Known as "enhanced e-books," they are stretching the definition of book by incorporating things like video content, animation, music and games. While children's and educational publishers are at the forefront of the field, the growing list of titles includes cookbooks, encyclopedias, biographies and novels.
