Prosecuting Military Sexual Assault Cases

For years the Pentagon has been criticized for not doing a better job of reducing sexual assaults in its corps. There were about 26,000 cases of unwanted sexual contact or sexual assault in the military last year. That's up 37 percent from the previous year - according to the Pentagon's own report. Yesterday U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand won the backing of two conservative Republicans for her proposal, which would remove sexual assault cases from the chain of command.
