Sally Field Captures History In Role Of Mrs. 'Lincoln'

In the film Lincoln, Academy Award-winning actress Sally Field plays Abraham Lincoln's wife Mary Todd.

Field lobbied hard for the role of this complex and emotionally-tormented woman, and did extensive research to capture the character.

She talks with NPR's Jennifer Ludden about the challenges of playing a historical character with a complicated legacy.
