From The Nation's Capital: African Americans in Alexandria

Monday, January 16, 2005 at 9pm

Black history is also American history.

On Monday, January 16th, WAMU marks Martin Luther King, Junior Day with a special program on the story of African-Americans in Alexandria, Virginia -- a city that's seen slavery, segregation and, today, black and white communities that have learned to live together. WAMU's Sam Litzinger hosts the program, which features an an interview with Dr. Pamela Cressey, Alexandria's City Archaeologist. She's working to make sure the past remains present.
