London Cash Machine Has Cockney Language Option

At one cash machine in East London, you'll have to know a bit of cockney to get money for your pocket, or "moolah for ya sky rocket." The cockney dialect employs rhyming slang, which changes a common word into a rhyming phrase. When customers choose the cockney option at the machine, it asks for their "Huckleberry Finn" — or PIN.

Japan Takes Action To Weaken Yen, Boost Dollar

The Japanese government went on a buying spree Monday to try to weaken the yen and push up the value of the dollar. The exchange rate recently hit about 75 yen to the dollar, which is terrible for Japanese exporters. Honda, Panasonic and Toshiba announced earnings Monday — and all said they're affected by the currency issue.

N.H. Neighborhood Known For Halloween Excess

Every Halloween, one street in Concord, N.H., attracts hundreds, sometimes thousands, of kids with hard-to-believe treats. One home scoops up orange sherbet; another hands out full-sized candy bars. Families on the block spend hundreds of dollars on candy every year — nobody wants to be the house that runs out.

Politico Reporter On Cain's Alleged Misconduct

Steve Inskeep speaks with reporter Jonathan Martin of Politico. The publication is reporting that presidential candidate Herman Cain was accused of inappropriate behavior by two female colleagues while he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990s. The women later left the organization and are said to have received five-figure payouts and signed nondisclosure agreements about the incident.

As U.S. troops pull out of Iraq, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is on a campaign to arrest and fire hundreds of former loyalists of Saddam Hussein. Maliki says it's an effort to prevent an elaborate coup attempt. But some Iraqis say Maliki is just making excuses to shore up power, positioning himself to become the next dictator.
