Regional Drought Blamed For Moose Decline In Wyo.

Wildlife outfitters in Wyoming are hurting because of the declining moose population. They depend on big game hunters for their livelihood. These businesses typically blame the reintroduction of wolves to the area as well as the states exploding grizzly bear population for the moose decline. But a decade-long drought in the region may be to blame.

FBI Probes Scandal Uncovered By Olympus CEO

Steve Inskeep talks with Jonathan Soble of the Financial Times about a scandal that has engulfed the Japanese camera and medical device maker Olympus. Ex-CEO Michael Woodford, a rare non-Japanese CEO, was ousted after he brought into the open massive and possibly improper payments that Olympus paid to two little-known "advisory firms" as part of an acquisition several years ago. The FBI is now investigating.

Head Of Ariz. Redistricting Commisison Fired

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and the state Senate ousted the chairwoman of the state's redistricting commission citing "gross misconduct" and "neglect of duty" in her job. The chairwoman, Colleen Mathis, is the lone independent on the commission.

Hacker Threatens Cartel Affiliates Over Kidnapping

The hackers group Anonymous is threatening to expose Mexican government officials, police and journalists who have collaborated with Las Zetas, the notorious drug cartel, unless the group releases an Anonymous member they allegedly abducted.

Greek Referendum Plan Sends Sarkozy Scrambling

Just a day before a meeting of the world's top 20 economies in France, Greece stunned the world by announcing it would put a hard-won bailout package agreed upon by Eurozone nations to the test in a popular referendum. The news went down like a lead balloon in European capitals and sent the markets reeling. French President Nicolas Sarkozy, host of the G20, is scrambling to repair the damage, summoning Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou to France.

Police Say Railroad Robbers Got Away With Pork

Police are on the hunt for the bandits who robbed a Union Pacific Railroad car after it made an emergency stop in Victorville, Calif. They made off with 20 boxes. Police told the Victorville Daily Press that the robbers couldn't have known what was in the car; they made off with $200 worth of pigs feet.

NBA's Kevin Durant Plays Flag Football At Okla. State

The pro basketball season still hasn't started, but Kevin Durant got a workout. The Oklahoma City star drove across the state to a flag football game. On Twitter the other night, he wrote, "This lockout is really boring. Anybody playing flag football?" An Oklahoma State student invited Durant to join a game his team had planned.

Biddle To Run For D.C. Council Seat

Former D.C. Council member Sekou Biddle will make another run for the council next year. He filed papers with the elections board Tuesday to run as a Democrat for the at-large seat currently held by Council member Vincent Orange in the April 2012 primary.

Colo. Tax Vote Pits Business Leaders Vs. Education

Colorado voters are deciding Tuesday whether to raise taxes to help fund schools. Proposition 103 is the nation's only statewide tax vote this November, and it's setting off a battle between business leaders worried about the economy and education interests saying the economy will never recover without well-funded schools. Kirk Siegler of member station KUNC reports that the measure is also seen as a barometer for the nation's mood on taxes.
