On this week's show we'll travel through time to look at the past, present and future of D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood. We'll hear about its earliest days as a post-Civil War community of freed slaves, and how it evolved to become the heart of black Washington. We'll talk with some of the firefighters who responded as the area burned during the 1968 riots. We'll visit a barbershop that's been open for 100 years, and we'll hear how new restaurants are transforming the area's culinary scene.
