


The Alexandria City Council recently approved a new mixed-use development in Arlandria-Chirilagua, a working class Latino neighborhood. The redevelopment will give a facelift to its main shopping center -- and probably change the neighborhood's demographics in the process. Emily Friedman tours Chirilagua with life-long resident Ingris Moran. At 20 years old, she has an insider's view of how the development will impact residents, and what it means to lose a historically Latino neighborhood in Northern Virginia.
