MS. REBECCA SHEIR
Welcome to "Metro Connection." I'm Rebecca Sheir. And today, we're going out in the cold. Now, I've got to say when we started planning this show, we were kind of banking of more extreme weather right about now, more like last January when we got socked by all that snow toward month's end. Or the January before, of course, when people were still going on and on about snowmageddon, snowpocalypse, what have you. Nevertheless, this week we still have some stories relating to actual cold.

Like, a behind the scenes preview of a world premier musical based on the classic children's book "The Snowy Day." But we'll also look at the changing face of No Child Left Behind which lawmakers had hoped would keep students from being left out in the cold, so to speak. We'll hear how sex workers are being pushed to remote, often residential, parts of the city and we'll learn about a shelter designed to keep homeless women out of the elements and why it's generating so much heat among the residents of one D.C. neighborhood.
