The Academy Awards have long had trouble with non-fiction film. Documentaries have extremely limited theater-runs. They often air on TV. And they tend to have small, if enthusiastic, audiences. Nonetheless, some flicks become blockbusters. And others have found new audiences through online rentals and new downloading technology. We look at the future of documentaries.
