What's this?

12:06Washington's Night Sky

For some, hot moonless summer nights are synonymous with backyard stargazing. Amateur and expert astronomers join Kojo to explore the cosmos, explain how to find Jupiter (and tell it apart from the orbiting space shuttle), and preview this weekend's great meteor shower.

Guests

Elizabeth Warner, Astronomer, and Observatory Director at University of Maryland

Kevin Hartnett, Deputy Science Operations Manager for the Hubble Space Telescope, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center; and President of the Goddard Astronomy Club

Jay Miller, amateur astronomer; and former President of the National Capitol Astronomers Club

13:06Air Travel Delays

Stressed-out Washingtonians look forward to it every year: the summer vacation. But this year, getting to your destination of choice is harder than usual. Airlines said nearly a third of flights were delayed in June -- and July and August weren't expected to be much better. We'll look at what's causing the air travel snares and whether there are any quick fixes for the problems.

Guests

Robert W. Mann, Jr., Principal, R.W. Mann & Company

Jim Mathews, Editor in Chief, Aviation Daily

Jim May, President and CEO, Air Transport Association

Mike Thompson, U.S. Congressman (D-California)
