30th Anniversary Celebration of The Diane Rehm Show was a celebration of longevity, civility
On Thursday, Sept. 24, WAMU 88.5 celebrated the work and longevity of the inimitable Diane Rehm with a gala benefited the station and its programs, including The Diane Rehm Show.
More than 400 friends of Diane and WAMU 88.5 gathered at the Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., to honor the 30-year -- and counting! -- career of Diane Rehm. Guests including Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Congressmen Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) and John Dingell (D-Mich), American University president Neil Kerwin, and NPR personalities Susan Stamberg, Scott Simon, and Cokie Roberts enjoyed memories of Diane’s career and toasts to her signature contributions to media – civility and listening.
Proceeds from the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Diane Rehm Show went to support WAMU 88.5 and its unique 24 hour mixture of news, public affairs talk programming and traditional American music.
