With violence on the rise in Afghanistan, U.S. government officials are expressing concerns over the security situation there and the role played by NATO allies. We'll look at threat from the Taliban and al-Qaeda and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's support of talks with Taliban factions.

His next book, "Marching Toward Hell: America and Islam After Iraq" will be published in early 2008.
Dr. Ashraf Ghani, Chairman, the Institute for State Effectiveness and former finance minister of Afghanistan and chancellor of Kabul University. He is also an adviser to the U.N. and has served as chief adviser to President Karzai. He's also author of the forthcoming book, "Fixing Failed States."
