Every Saturday morning, despite the fact that it's Saturday morning, Tom and Ray Magliozzi turn on their microphones and belt out the best advice they can offer for your automobile. Not that you'd necessarily want to take it but -- hey! You're up anyway so why not?

Car Talk just might be the best thing to hit radio on Saturday mornings since the air bag was invented (some might say they're actually one-in-the-same) and you can hear it every morning on WAMU 88.5 FM. If you miss it (heaven forbid!) you can listen to the show online at the Car Talk website.

In the meantime, if you love your old heap and it's been good to you why not let it do one more good thing and benefit WAMU 88.5 FM?

The Public Radio Vehicle Donation Program is our free, convenient service (run by a vehicle donation company called V-DAC), that will pickup your vehicle and convert it into a donation benefiting your local public radio station. All you have to do is click Donate Now or call 1-866-789-TMCP (Take My Car Please or 1-866-789-8627) to get started. Phone service runs weekdays 8:30 to 8:30 EST, Sat. 8:30 to 2:30 EST.

Our partner, V-DAC, makes sure your donation is tax deductible and your vehicle is properly handled. (They eliminate most problems with title transfers by never sending titles with the vehicle. Do you really want to give your car and title to some guy with a tow truck you've never seen before?)

Need more information? On this site, you'll find information to help you decide whether it makes financial sense for you to donate your car, truck or RV instead of selling it or trading it in. You'll also find answers to questions about how it all works, and questions about tax deductability. If you still have questions, you can send an email to V-DAC or call 1-866-789-TMCP (Take My Car Please or 1-866-789-8627).

Here are some Quick Facts:

  • You are eligible for an itemized TAX DEDUCTION of your vehicle's Retail Fair Market Value.
  • Our service is totally free and includes convenient pick-up of your car, truck, RV, plane, boat, motorcycle or other motorized vehicle anywhere in the U.S.
  • One of the most responsibly managed programs in the country.
  • A vehicle can have a BIG dollar impact at WAMU 88.5 FM. (Donating a newer vehicle is better than donating a junker that gives little or nothing to your public radio station).
