Aug. 26-Sept. 15: Forever Plaid
The Off-Broadway musical Forever Plaid is back at Olney Theatre Center, but it won’t be there for long. Written by Stuart Ross, the play follows a clean cut “boy band” called “The Plaids.” In 1964, the quartet was on route to its debut gig when all of the band members died, extinguishing any hopes of stardom. But Sparky, Jinx, Smudge and Frankie come back to life in this musical revue that will be on stage through September 15.

Aug. 26-30: Nijinsky’s Last Dance
For a limited time only, you can see Slovenia’s Mladinsko Theatre in its production of the solo drama Nijinsky’s Last Dance, by D.C.-based playwright Norman Allen. Presented in Slovenian with English surtitles, the performance dives into the mental psyche of renowned dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky as he reviews his life while struggling to preserve his sanity. You can see the performance through Friday at CulturalDC’s Mead Theatre Lab.
