Jun. 18: Washington Performing Arts Society
School is just about out for summer, and tonight you can see what a group of artistically-minded local students have been working on all year. Young musicians, vocalists and dancers from the Washington Performing Arts Society’s Capitol Arts Initiative will be performing at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. The free concert starts at 6 p.m.
Jun. 18-19: Theater of the Voiceless
Tonight at 7:30 you can head to the Embassy of Austria to see a staged reading of Worst Case by Kathrin Röggla as part of The Theater of the Voiceless festival. The play explores how daily press coverage of catastrophic events have created a culture of fear and distorted our perception of reality. And tomorrow night at 6:30, you can attend a film screening at the Goethe-Institut Washington of the Rimini Protokoll documentary-theater piece Soil Sample Kazakhstan, which follows five Berlin-based actors as they set out to trace the route of an oil pipeline and, by extension, their own personal histories.
