May 7-12: The GI Film Festival
This week you can see a number of documentaries, features and shorts that pay tribute to veterans past and present. Now in its 7th year, The GI Film Festival presents a range of pro-military films. Co-Founder Brandon says the event, "started off as an effort to show the courage and the heroism and the sacrifice of people who serve, something we didn't feel was reflected in some of the content coming out of Hollywood." He says that since then, the organization has expanded its mission and coverage. The festival runs through May 12 at venues in D.C. and Northern Virginia.
May 7-Jun. 8: CONNECT 4
You can check out the latest installment of CONNECT 4, a public art series at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in NW. CulturalDC presents O'er Yonder, an exhibit inspired by graphic novels, through June 8. The work is by Nekisha Durrett, one of four artists included in the ongoing series.
