


Jan. 31-Feb. 25: A Sense of Place
The Dennis and Phillip Ratner Museum in Bethesda presents a new collection today that includes pieces by eight different artists. A Sense of Place features works in oils, pastels, watercolor, and mixed media. Each artist expresses his or her own interests, but the collection shares an underlying theme of location, with subjects varying from boats in a harbor, to the Capitol, to scenes from abroad.
Jan. 31: Using Filmmaking to Heal the World
For a sense of peace you can visit the Meditation Museum in Silver Spring tonight for a workshop entitled Using Filmmaking to Heal the World, with Vishal and Prashant Hiraskar. The brothers will be leading a discussion about their latest film, The TIME is NOW, a documentary about ordinary people who used their inner strength to survive brutal circumstances. The free event starts at 6:30 p.m., and this Friday you can head to BloomBars in Columbia Heights at 7 p.m. for a full screening of the film.
