Jan. 11-Feb. 22: The Soul of the City and The Points That Bring Us From Here to There
It may be under construction, but that isn't stopping The Vivid Solutions Gallery from presenting new art. The venue's latest exhibition, The Soul of the City, goes on display at Honfleur Gallery today, which is also opening a new exhibit, The Points That Bring Us from Here to There. The former presents art by nine local photographers who submitted their work to an [InstantDC] (http://instantdc.com/ ) photo contest calling for responses to the Oswald Spengler quote: "It goes without saying that what distinguishes a town from a village is not size, but the presence of a soul." The Points That Bring Us From Here to There also exemplifies love of city with a project exploring Anacostia's history. Both collections will be up through February 22.

Jan. 11-Feb. 1: A Small Hope and a Bullet
Color, abstract shapes and Kurdish symbolism are prominent in Lukman Ahmad's acrylic paintings, which embody themes such as hope, freedom, harmony, and conflict. The self-taught artist's work will be on view at Jerusalem Fund Gallery through February 1, and there will be an opening reception for the exhibit, titled A Small Hope and a Bullet, tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.

Music: "Home Instrumental" by Urban D.
