Dec. 13-16: National Gallery of Art free films
The National Gallery of Art is hosting free film screenings this week, including a 1960s interview with abstract artist Barnett Newman that will show at half past noon today. This Friday and Saturday, the NGA will host a two-day event featuring award-winning projects from this year's International Festival of Films on Art.
Dec. 13-Aug. 11: Nam June Paik: Global Visionary
Nam June Paik is remembered as the father of video art, but in part of the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Nam June Paik: Global Visionary exhibit, the vessel through which we view film becomes the focus of the artist's work. The installation includes three of Paik's TV Crowns, which he created by reassembling parts from multiple deconstructed television sets.
