Nov. 22-Dec. 3 'Hitchcock' and Hitchcock
The new feature film "Hitchcock" opens tomorrow, with Anthony Hopkins playing the famed noir director. To get you in the mood, AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring is showing a selection of favorites from the master of suspense. "Psycho" — of course — and "Rear Window" are playing tonight. You can catch "North by Northwest" tomorrow night.

Nov 22 - Dec. 19 Ang Lee retrospective
Another new release, and another retrospective: director Ang Lee's latest film, "Life of Pi," hits theaters this week. His earlier films can be seen over the next month in a series hosted by the Smithsonian's Freer Gallery and AFI. Lee grew up in Taiwan, and his early work was shot mostly in Mandarin. But with the hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in 2000, Lee went mainstream. He followed that with films as varied -- and acclaimed -- as "Hulk" and "Brokeback Mountain." The movies showing at the Freer Gallery are free; for those at AFI tickets are required.

Music: "Psycho Theme" by Bernard Herrmann.
