Nov. 17: Low Cut Connie
"Pathologically fun." That's what the the New York Times says about the talents of New York-based rock band Low Cut Connie. The group plays a free show tomorrow night at The Dunes in Columbia Heights and has just released its second album, filled with the sounds of early rock-and-roll. Tomorrow night's 8 p.m. show is part of a series of up-and-coming New York bands playing free shows in D.C.

Nov. 16-Mar. 2: Luces y Sombras
To make it an evening of free events, check out the Mexican Cultural Institute's exhibition, Luces y Sombras, showing off 14 American photographers working in Mexico. Among the most well-known images on display are the twenty prints from Paul Strand's Mexican Portfolio, elegant and haunting photos of the Mexican countryside taken in 1933. The exhibition runs through March 2.
