(Oct. 23-Nov. 25) The Conference of the Birds
There's no set guide to life, which may be why people tend to lose themselves along the way. In The Conference of the Birds the world's winged creatures embark on a journey to find their king, but instead realize a profound secret. Based on the 12th-century poem by Farid Uddi Attar, this stage adaptation is directed by two-time Helen Hayes Award-winner Aaron Posner. The production is at Folger Theatre through November 25.
(Oct. 25-Oct. 27) Letters from the Swallows (Cartas de Las Goldrinas)
As part of its 15th International Festival of Hispanic Theater, Teatro de la Luna presents Cartas de Las Goldrinas, or Letters from the Swallows. The play includes personal stories recounting how early-20th century Spaniards moved to the Americas in search of a more promising future. The play opens tomorrow night and runs through Saturday.
(Sept. 14-Oct. 27) Home & Home
There are only a few days left to see Home & Home, at Heiner Contemporary gallery. The exhibit delves into photographer Satomi Shirai's immigration from Tokyo to New York City.
