(Oct. 23-Nov. 11) War Horse at the Kennedy Center Opera House
War Horse
gallops on stage at The Kennedy Center tonight. The play incorporates life-sized puppets to tell the story of one boy's unyielding dedication to his beloved horse. When Joey is sold to the cavalry, Albert embarks on a mission to bring him home. The five-time Tony Award-winning production is in D.C. through November 11th.

(Oct. 6-Oct. 28) Homage: Past Influences
"Homage: Past Influences" is in its final week at Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center. The all-media exhibition features 26 works that reflect on how past influences can inform the present.

Oct. 23-Oct. 25: Sister (L'enfant d'en haut)
It's not too late to catch Sister, a drama playing at West End Cinema through Thursday. The film centers on 12-year-old Simon, who must provide for himself and his older sister by stealing from wealthy tourists at a Swiss ski resort. When he links up with a shady partner, Simon's boundaries begin to blur and his relationship with his sister takes a troubling turn.
