(Oct. 10-18) The Nightmare Before Election
Halloween's on a Wednesday this year, so if you're looking to get a little more mileage out of your costume without throwing off your entire work week, there are a few events you should keep in mind: AFI Silver kicks off its seventh annual Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival today. Nine nights of more than 50 shorts and features promise everything from a hysterical Canadian zombie comedy to a terrifying anthology about Nazi zombies to a documentary about zombie makeup.
(Oct. 10-21) Jekyll and Hyde
The charming Dr. Jekyll and sinister Mr. Hyde get dressed up a little differently at Arlington's Synetic Theater through October 21st. Jekyll and Hyde sets the action of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic in modern-day America where things are very dark, very physical, and totally wordless.
(Oct. 11) Next time: Clean Bourbon River Show
There's nothing dark or spooky about the Dirty Bourbon River Show, but don't let that discourage you. The Big Easy's own troupe of multi-instrumentalists brings its brand of New Orleans gypsy brass circus rock to Hill Country DC in Northwest tomorrow night.
Music: "Up We Go Now!" by Dirty Bourbon River Show
