


(Sept. 4-28) Mutual Inspirations
Czech-American filmmaker Milos Forman has been working in the industry since the 50s. Over the course of his career he’s made some of the most highly regarded films of all time, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Amadeus. The Czech Embassy celebrates his legacy and his 80th birthday all month with Mutual Inspirations. The festival features film posters, film screenings, concerts, and lectures at a number of venues in the Washington area.
(Sept. 4) The Black Swans
Ohio’s The Black Swans play the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue tonight. The band has been perfecting its folk-rock sound since the early 2000s.
(Sept. 7-Jan. 6) Women Who Rock
Women Who Rock are honored at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Northwest Washington beginning Friday. Organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the exhibition of more than 250 artifacts highlights the contributions of females to popular music, from Ma Rainey to Janis Joplin to Lady Gaga.
