(Aug. 24-25) Dance, Dance, Dance
If the mere thought of the weekend gets your feet moving, you’re in good company. The region’s finest movers and shakers head out to Northeast Washington’s Atlas Performing Arts Center and the Kennedy Center tonight and tomorrow for the 9th Annual Dance DC Festival. Local dance posses perform Indian folk dance, Argentine tango, Brazilian capoeira, and pay homage to percussion. The two days of events conclude with a hand dance party Saturday night at Twelve Lounge in Northeast.

(Aug. 24-Nov. 4) Pave Paradise
Artisphere in Arlington opens Beyond the Parking Lot today. Several artists from several states interpret how we have used, and in some cases abandoned, the land in and around our cities. The drawings, paintings, videos, and photos ask, “Where do we go from here?” through early November.

(Aug. 26) Gospel Persuaders
D.C.’s Hill Country Live likes to mark the last Sunday of the month with gospel music and food. In keeping with that tradition, the folks at the venue in Northwest will welcome the District’s own eight-piece traditional Gospel Persuaders around suppertime the day after tomorrow.
