(Aug. 8-Sept. 2) Stamp It Out
The Postal Service has been having a tough go of it lately, so what better time for someone to go ahead and reinvent the stamp? Stamp It Out opens today at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. Artist Audrey Schuster creates surreal landscape portraits with homemade stamps. They’re pretty small, but when united with other ones they form recognizable shapes. There’s an opening reception Saturday night.
(Aug. 11) Bonsoiree
Art Soiree brings local visual art, short films, literature, and performance to the Washington Harbor in Georgetown Sunday night. The 3rd Annual Midsummer Night’s Dream Fantasy Show promises everything from acrobatics to whimsical hair pieces.
(Aug. 11) The best bluegrass punk Norway has to offer
You can finally scratch seeing a Norwegian bluegrass punk band off your bucket list. Oslo’s Fabulous Flea Market Band plays at Haydee’s Restaurant in Northwest Washington Saturday night. The band promises to deliver songs about love, insanity, natural disasters, and three-legged dogs while huddled around a single microphone.
Music: “Jitters (feat. Mark Vehrencamp)” by Mary Flower
