(July 20-22) Living Earth Festival
If you’re looking to have yourself one mighty summer weekend, there are events up and down the region to aid you in your noble quest. Down on the National Mall there’s the Living Earth Festival. You can celebrate indigenous contributions to environmental sustainability and activism with traditional foods, local produce, and an Iron Chef-style cook-off between two Native American chefs. The fun begins today and continues through Sunday at the National Museum of the American Indian.

(July 21) Poetry Park
Rock Creek Park has all sorts of entertainment through the end of the summer at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre. This weekend’s for the poets. The 8th Annual DC Poetry in the Park gets underway Saturday evening at 7:30.

(July 20-22) MICArtscape
If you make it out to Baltimore this weekend, there’s a good chance you’ll run into this year’s Artscape. The creativity smorgasbord, billed as the nation’s largest free festival of its kind, brings a bevy of arts, culture, and cuisine to twelve city blocks around the Maryland Institute College of Art all weekend.
