(June 13-Dec. 30) Tree Fever and Endangered Species

 Micheline Klagsbrun has a fever, and the only prescription is more colorful impressionistic interpretations of trees. The District artist’s Tree Fever is showing at Northwest Washington’s Studio Gallery through the end of the week if you have a soft spot for exotic plant life. 

If your love for nature is more fauna than flora-based, there’s Endangered Species at the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, Virginia through the end of the year. Washington’s Kay Jackson presents her gold-leaf panel paintings of some increasingly rare animals.

(June 13) Veronneau on world-jazz, Stan Getz, and Charlie Byrd

Northern Virginia’s Veronneau has historically set its sights on global sounds, sampling from Latin jazz, gypsy swing, and bossa nova. Tonight the group maintains that spirit at Strathmore in North Bethesda while celebrating some local history. The quartet pays tribute to Jazz Samba, a classic album recorded by Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd here in the District 50 years ago that helped introduce Brazilian bossa nova to the world.
