The beach can come to you this summer, as long as you can get to Corcoran.

(June 10) Fun, sun, etc.
When you think of the Washington Revels, Christmas might come to mind, but the group knows how to celebrate summer too. The 3rd Annual Washington Revels SunFest brings music, dance, and even a little drama from around the world to downtown Silver Spring Sunday. The young ones are sure to enjoy the festival’s arts and crafts, parades, and puppets.

(June 9-Oct. 14) Life’s a beach
Northwest Washington’s Corcoran Gallery of Art can’t take you to the beach, but it’s doing its darnedest to bring the beach to you this summer. The Deep Element: Photography at the Beach opens tomorrow. The exhibit features sandy shots from the 19th century to the present day and reveals how artists have drawn inspiration from coastlines and tan lines.

(June 8) Jazz and painting at the Bumper Car Pavilion
The Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park is a great place to draw inspiration, especially when The Washington Conservatory of Music shows up to play jazz. Tonight several artists prop easels to render the music in paint form before your eyes. The benefit concert for the Children’s Inn at NIH gets underway at 6:30.
