(June 1-10) DC Jazz Festival
It’s going to be a harmonious weekend in the Washington area. The DC Jazz Festival kicks off tomorrow, bringing hundreds of verteran musicians to venues all over the District. If you can’t wait until the weekend to get into the spirit, pianist, composer, and producer Erik Deutsch plays two sets at Northwest Washington’s Bohemian Caverns tonight. The session ace takes a break from backing Norah Jones and Rosanne Cash to perform some of his far funkier original material.

(June 2) Sing a song for America
Washington’s Congressional Chorus celebrates 25 years of singing American music in the nation’s capital the only way it knows how Saturday night. The group’s Silver Anniversary Concert brings a program of folksongs, spirituals, Broadway gems, and a few originals to National City Christian Church in Northwest.

(May 31) Heybale! Hill Country!
If you’re in the mood for some good old fashioned country music, Heybale! plays Northwest’s Hill Country Thursday night. The Texas five-piece shows its range with honky-tonk, rockabilly, western swing, and alternative country.
