(April 18-21) Discovering Discovery
These are festive times in the District and the arrival of a celebrated space shuttle doesn’t hurt. Discovery is feted all week long with a ceremony tomorrow and discussions, exhibits, and activities all weekend at the National Air and Space Museum annex in Chantilly. If you can’t make it out this week, the spacecraft plans on being there forever.

(April 20-22) Books of Bethesda
The 13th annual Bethesda Literary Festival is held this weekend, too. Celebrated authors, journalists, and poets will discuss their words. The guest list includes Thomas Friedman of The New York Times, biographer Walter Isaacson, and Goosebump-giver R.L. Stine.

(April 18-May 16) Human Rights Watch
Washington’s West End Cinema hosts the Human Rights Watch Film Fest for the next month. Every Wednesday night brings another slice of cinema that calls for justice in the face of repression. Tonight, it’s The Green Wave, a partly-animated film that recalls the events of Iran’s 2009 election protests with video footage, interviews, and social media.
