(March 30-June 17) Mount Fiji and Colorful Realm
The cherry blossoms may have already peaked, but the National Cherry Blossom Festival is just getting started. The Sackler Gallery on the National Mall has Hokusai: 36 Views of Mount Fuji through mid-June. The exhibition features what’s widely regarded as the best work by the artist who is widely regarded as Japan’s best.

The National Gallery of Art opens Colorful Realm: Japanese Bird-and-Flower Paintings today. The complete collection of renowned scrolls by 18th-century Japanese artist Ito Jakuchu is presented for the first time in the United States and after a six-year restoration project.

(March 30-31) Symphonie Fantastique
A renowned work of puppetry is performed tonight and tomorrow at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park. Symphonie Fantastique promises to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen, unless you’ve seen a puppet show set in a massive aquarium that uses mirrors, slides, dyes, and overhead projections to tell the story of an artist gifted with a lively imagination.
