(Dec. 29-30) The hardest working band in show business
The holidays don’t mean much when you’re “The hardest working band in show business.” The Roots are taking advantage of a week of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon repeats to tour in support of its latest effort undun. The concept album dwells on death – chronicling the downfall of its narrator, but the band promises to balance things out with lighter material from throughout its almost quarter-century career tonight and tomorrow at The Fillmore in Silver Spring.

(Dec. 31) Velvet Underground and Nico
The National Gallery of Art closes out a season of Andy Warhol celebrations on Monday. Before the pop art fun ends the gallery screens The Velvet Underground and Nico: A Symphony of Sound Saturday at noon. The 1966 Warhol-directed documentary depicts the band rehearsing at The Factory in New York until the police show up and provide an ending.

And The Winner Of The World Food Prize Is ... The Man From Monsanto
