(Dec. 13-Jan. 15) Billy meets Kennedy
Billy Elliot dances his way into the District today. The theatrical version of the beloved film won ten Tony Awards in 2009, including ‘Best Musical.’ In a hardscrabble English town young Billy stumbles out of the boxing ring and directly into a ballet class, where he discovers a surprising talent that eventually inspires his reluctant father and his entire community. The Kennedy Center stages the show through mid-January.

(Dec. 13-Jan. 2) Father and son make Transitions
A father and son collaborated on Transitions showing until January 2nd at The Art League in Alexandria. Guy and Marco Rando used reclaimed wood to create kinetic sculptures and wall-mounted nature-inspired abstract forms. Their masterful cuts and inlays balance the imperfections in their source material.

(Dec. 13-Dec 31) Where it’s at
Washington artist Gordon Binder skips the natural bit and goes straight for urban scenes in the Year End Show at Gallery plan b in Northwest. The trained architect and city planner explores expressionistic possibilities in his oil paintings of dense cityscapes.
