(Dec. 6-17) The Welcome Guest and Scenes of Mild Peril
Two Australian artists are presenting their latest works at Conner Contemporary Art in Northeast Washington through the end of next week. Patricia Piccinini’s The Welcome Guest features sculptures of deformed humans and animals as a commentary on the challenges we face navigating between nature and biotechnology. And Victoria F. Gaitan’s Scenes of Mild Peril lives up to its name with unsettling staged photographs of women in uncomfortable situations - such as standing next to a hungry coyote.
