The Latin American Harp Festival brings three master players from Colombia, Paraguay and Venezuela to the Gunston Arts Center in Arlington tonight and tomorrow. 

(Sept. 16-18) Sonic Circuits
For some music from the avant-garde you can’t do much better than the District’s own Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music. Interesting sounds are made with saxophones, glockenspiels, motherboards and junk instruments all weekend at the Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center and Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring.

If you’re always looking for a good excuse to celebrate the written word the 13th annual Fall for the Book festival gets underway Sunday at venues throughout Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland. 150 authors and poets - including Stephen King, Amy Tan and Claudia Rankine - descend on the region for readings, discussions and performances.
