Paul Emmanuel's Transitions brings art about masculinity and the South African military to MICA in Baltimore.
(Sept. 7) Twice is Nice
If you have a sartorially pleasing vintage ensemble lying around and need something to do with it The Textile Museum has the outing tailored just for you. Things that have been loved at least twice are celebrated along with live music in Twice is Nice tonight in conjunction with the Second Lives: the Age-Old Art of Recycling Textiles exhibit. If you’re looking for something that’s new to you, there’ll be swapping opportunities in the Museum’s garden.
(Sept. 8-Oct. 2) Transitions at MICA
South African visual artist Paul Emmanuel opens Transitions at Baltimore’s Maryland Institute College of Art tomorrow. A series of staged photographs of turning points in the lives of men explore how the military has influenced notions of masculinity in his native country.
(Sept. 8-Oct. 16) MetroStage gets Savage
Savage in Limbo debuts tomorrow at MetroStage in Alexandria. Set in a seedy Bronx bar, a quintet of regulars works through a collective existential crisis and end up with a few answers on the meaning of life and love.
