9/11 in print, the Baseball Project and a few nights in Neverland.

(Aug. 31-Sept. 25) Remembering 9/11

With the ten-year anniversary of 9/11 on its way, artists across the region are reflecting on the day’s tragic events and the decade of war and healing. The Washington Printmakers Gallery opens an exhibit of 9/11-inspired works today. The show features prints that were made soon after the attacks, after some reflection and in the months leading up to the anniversary.

(Sept. 1) America’s Pastime Project

A group of friends who also happened to be musicians from bands like R.E.M. and Minus 5 decided it was about time to rock out in honor of America’s pastime a few years ago. The result is The Baseball Project, appearing at Iota Club & Cafe in Arlington tomorrow night. Favorite teams, all-time greats and unforgettable moments from the old ball game are recalled in songs that sound a lot like anthems.

(Sept. 1-4) Bangarang?

Peter Pan checks out of Neverland for a few nights at Vienna’s Wolf Trap this week. Former gymnast Cathy Rigby reprises the role of the boy who won’t grow up tomorrow through Sunday.
