


A learning process, a writer’s nightmare and Zydeco Trouble.
Stencil artist Joe Iurato channeled the process of learning how to walk while working on Fall and Rise, showing through mid-September at Art Whino in National Harbor. He presents children, faceless men, ropes and chains in his exploration of how we must get back up again after falling down.
The AFI Silver in Silver Spring is Keeping Up with the Coen Brothers through Labor Day. You can catch screenings of The Man Who Wasn't There and True Grit later in the week. Tonight it’s 1991's Barton Fink. The brothers Coen came up with the idea for the film about a playwright suffering from writer's block while they were actually suffering from writer's block. It went on to win the Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
If you appreciate the sounds of the Crescent City there's Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble tomorrow night at Artisphere's ballroom in Arlington. Taylor is touring the country in an attempt to bring the accordion back with a blend of Louisiana blues, soul and zydeco sounds.
