Unheard theater, a gun show and dance options hip and square.

(Aug. 12) Unheard theater

Two theater companies specializing in visual theater that transcends linguistic barriers perform tonight at Northeast Washington’s Gallaudet University. Maryland’s Quest Visual Theatre and South Africa’s FTH:K collaborate for a showcase of productions featuring deaf and hearing performers.

(Aug. 12-Sept. 2) A distinctly D.C. gun show

A different kind of Gun Show opens today at the Washington Project for the Arts in Northwest. Local artist John James Anderson methodically explores the complexities of the gun control debate with hand-drawn quotations, charts and videos.

(Aug. 13) Shock dance

Rock Creek Park’s Carter Barron Amphitheatre hosts Culture Shock DC’s 8th annual East Coast Dance Concert Saturday night. Dance troupes from our Eastern Seaboard and far beyond bust all sorts of modern moves.

(Aug. 13) Dare to be square!

If you’re feeling like a little too much of a square for modern moves the Great American Square Dance Revival may be up your alley. A caller will be on hand to guide you through the process Saturday night at St. Stephen’s Church in Columbia Heights.
