August 11, 2011 - Ragtime, movie time and time to rock.
Washington’s Theatre Lab presents the Broadway musical Ragtime today through Saturday in Northwest. The Lab’s Musical Theatre Institute for Teens takes on the stories of three very different Americans in New York at the dawning of the 20th century. The young cast gets some help from some of the region’s veteran theater talent.
The Neighborhood Farm Initiative promotes small-scale urban agriculture in the D.C. area. Tonight the group hosts a fundraiser with food, wine, music and a film at Letelier Theater in Georgetown. The film is the documentary Truck Farm, which follows a New Yorker who turns his 1986 Dodge pickup truck into a mobile farm.
If you’re a girl and you want nothing more than to rock, your summers are probably best spent at Girls Rock! DC, where your rock proclivities are encouraged and honed. The summer camp holds its annual Camper Showcase Saturday morning at the 9:30 Club in Northwest because it’s never too early to rock and/or roll.
