The C & O Canal starts the weekend off harmoniously tomorrow morning. Porch Pickin’ Bluegrass brings local musicians and artists to the park’s Bowles House Visitor Center in Hancock from 11 to 2.

For the region’s Lego lovers there’s the BrickFair Lego Fan Festival all weekend at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. Hundreds of Lego masters from across the country show off their customized creations. If you’ve never seen a Lego Mona Lisa, this is your chance.

Washington’s Rachel Schmidt mashes Victorian aesthetics with a modern world in Damsels & Daemons at the Arlington Arts Center through late September. The multimedia presentation explores the fantastic word of two women and their monsters with photos, drawings and sculpture.

(Aug. 6) Red Power Squad on the Mall

The National Museum of the American Indian closes out its annual Indian Summer Showcase performance series tomorrow. The Red Power Squad brings Native rap and a primer on break dancing all the way from Alberta, Canada.

3-D Printer Makes Life-Saving Splint For Baby Boy's Airway

A 3-D printer is being credited with helping save an Ohio baby's life, after doctors "printed" a tube to support a weak airway that caused him to stop breathing. The innovative procedure has allowed Kaiba Gionfriddo, of Youngstown, Ohio, to stay off a ventilator for more than a year.
