American Forum: Change +1: Are Young Voters Talking to President Obama?

Live Event: Tues., Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m.; Broadcast: Wed., Oct. 14 at 12 p.m. on WAMU HD-3 and Wed., Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. on WAMU 88.5

Young people helped elect President Barack Obama in 2008; how do they view him and the issues today?

A diverse panel of experts will look not only at how the Millennial generation views President Obama personally but also how this age group views the important issues facing the country today - including the economy and health care, transparency in government and the effectiveness of social networking to govern versus social networking to get elected.

We'll also talk about how Republicans can reach out to young voters and whether young voters will turn out in the mid-term elections, as well as media coverage of President Obama and how young people's use of media is affecting politics and media.

Jane Hall, Associate Professor in AU's School of Communication, will moderate.

Panelists include: David Gregory, journalist and moderator of NBC's Meet the Press; Jose Antonio Vargas, Technology and Innovations Editor of Huffington Post; David Winston, Republican strategist and president of The Winston Group; Erin McPike, Political Reporter, CongressDaily at The National Journal and David Corn, Washington Bureau Chief, Mother Jones and Columnist, PoliticsDaily.com.
