Programming Alert: Special Coverage Of Newtown Memorial

WAMU announces a change in programming for tonight. "All Things Considered" will air as scheduled at 5 p.m., followed by "state of the reunion" at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., we will rejoin "All Things Considered" as they provide updates on the memorial service in Newtown, Conn. Then at 8, NPR provides special coverage of the service, including President Barack Obama's remarks.

We will join "The Big Broadcast" in progress at the conclusion of the special, which is expected to end around 9 p.m. Please be advised that this special coverage might not be appropriate for young children. "The Big Broadcast" can be heard in its entirety on Intersection.

President Obama is scheduled to travel to Newtown, Conn. to visit with the families of the victims killed in Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Obama will join families and friends at an interfaith vigil at Newtown High at 7 p.m.

This special broadcast will be hosted by Guy Raz. He will be joined in studio by NPR White House Correspondent, Scott Horsley, and NPR Science Correspondent, Jon Hamilton. NPR correspondents in Newtown will also join the program.
